Data Center – HVAC Technician

Location: Karachi & Lahore

The Data Center HVAC Technician is responsible for the operations, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and cooling systems critical to the performance and uptime of the data center. This role ensures optimal thermal conditions for IT equipment through proactive maintenance, system monitoring, and rapid response to issues in a mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain, repair, and operate all HVAC systems including CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling towers, condensers, air handlers, humidifiers, and building ventilation systems.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on HVAC infrastructure to prevent outages and extend system life.
• Monitor environmental controls and temperature/humidity sensors using BMS and DCIM systems to ensure compliance with set parameters.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system malfunctions, identifying and correcting mechanical, electrical, and control issues.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of new HVAC equipment and infrastructure upgrades.
• Respond promptly to alarms or system failures, minimizing downtime and protecting data center operations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repair logs, and performance data.
• Support energy efficiency initiatives and airflow management best practices such as containment systems.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and system upgrades.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or technical/vocational training in HVAC or mechanical systems is required.
• Associate degree in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or related field is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on HVAC experience, preferably in a critical facility or data center environment.
• In-depth understanding of refrigeration cycles, air distribution, and data center cooling best practices.
• Familiarity with CRAC/CRAH units, precision cooling, and chilled water systems.
• Proficiency in using Building Management Systems (BMS) and DCIM platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends, nights, and on-call rotation.
